What is IPTV?

What is IPTV?

IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) is a way of watching TV through your internet connection instead of a satellite dish or a cable box. Live channels, movies and series are streamed to your device in real time, so you can watch on a Smart TV, phone, tablet, computer or TV box.

How does IPTV work?

With classic TV, every channel is broadcast at the same time over cable or satellite. With IPTV, the content is sent over the internet, only when you ask for it. You open an IPTV app, choose a channel or a movie, and it starts streaming.

Most IPTV services offer three types of content:

  • Live TV – news, sports, kids and entertainment channels, just like regular TV.
  • Video on Demand (VOD) – movies and series you can start whenever you want.
  • Catch-up / EPG – an Electronic Program Guide that shows what is on now and next.

What do you need?

  • A stable internet connection (around 10 Mbps for HD, 25 Mbps or more for 4K).
  • A compatible device: Smart TV (Samsung, LG, Android TV), Fire TV Stick, Android box, iPhone/Android phone, PC or Mac.
  • An IPTV player app and your subscription details.

Why are people switching to IPTV?

  • No dish, no cables: everything works over the internet.
  • Watch anywhere: at home or on the go, on the device you prefer.
  • More choice: channels from many countries in one place, plus movies and series.
  • Quality options: SD, HD, FHD and 4K depending on your connection.

Tips for a smooth experience

  • Use a wired (Ethernet) connection or 5 GHz Wi-Fi for your TV when possible.
  • Restart your router and app if a channel freezes.
  • Choose a lower quality (HD instead of 4K) if your connection is slow.
